Reiki is non-religious and holds no creed or dogma. The “Universal Life Energy” flows through each one of us. To strengthen the energy flow a process of an attunement must be done. Attunements are done by a Reiki Master/Teacher to each person to open the energy flow. The Reiki practitioner does not do the energy healing, they are only the conduit or channel for the energy to flow.
The History of Reiki
Reiki, pronounced “ray-key” is a Japanese word meaning “Universal Life Energy”. It was rediscovered by theologist Dr. Mikao Usui during the 1800s. He made it his personal quest to discover the truth behind this natural phenomenon and his search led him to the Tibetan Lamas. There, he received the sacred initiation into the art and science of self improvement. Usui passed on his knowledge to the Grand Masters in direct spiritual succession to him and they then introduced the Usui system to the western world.
How Does Reiki Work?
We are alive because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body though pathways called chakras, meridians and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body.
Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
Reiki is a powerful and gentle healer. It can be used for many ailments such as reducing stress, relieving pain, headaches, upset stomachs, back problems, menstrual problems, sinus, anxiety and many more.

What to expect in a Reiki treatment?
Each session is customized to your current needs. We start by talking about your issues and then we start the treatment on my treatment table. Here you are fully clothed, relaxing with soft music. I’ll use various hand positions to focus on the main energy points of the body. These areas are known as the major chakras and there are seven which run down the centre of the body. Minor chakras can be found on the soles of the feet and the palms of the hands. The healing experience is different for everyone. It is very common to feel hot or cold sensations in certain areas of the body or to see colors in the mind’s eye. However, for others the healing process is less dramatic and simply induces deep relaxation. Either way, Reiki allows the body to fully de-stress and heal itself.
After the Reiki treatment, we’ll discuss your experience and address your questions, and together we will create a plan to follow. My goal is to help you feel better and give you all the support you need during and after the treatment. Your healing session can be in person or a distant healing, combined with a phone consultation.
