About Coté Garceau

Born and raised in Chile, Coté moved to the United States in her late 20s. She is a certified advanced holistic birth and postpartum doula through The Matrona, as well as a midwife student, birth assistant and holistic childbirth educator who serves the Chicagoland area. Additionally, she is a skilled herbalist and placenta artist & encapsulator.

As a Holistic doula and childbirth educator

Coté offers a more human approach to birth, one that honors it as a sacred, embodied experience rather than a protocol. She believes that birth is not something that simply happens to you, but a powerful part of you.

As a holistic doula and childbirth educator, Coté blends grounded information with intuitive tools, helping families approach birth with confidence, calm, and trust. Her teaching is not about just “coping,” but about softening into presence, love, and surrender.

Partners are welcomed into the process with clear guidance and hands-on practices that build confidence in their role, creating a shared language that strengthens connection and teamwork during labor.

Her classes and care are especially supportive for families planning an unmedicated birth at home or in a birth center, where trust, preparation, and presence can flourish.

As a midwife student and Birth Assistant

Coté holds certifications in Birth Emergency Skills Training (BEST) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Her continuing education includes extensive studies in herbalism, anatomy & physiology, and she serves as birth assistant for two home birth practices in the area. Coté has enriched her practice by learning Traditional Rebozo techniques and closing ceremony from Traditional Mexican Parteras and is also trained in Spinning Babies Technique.

“Our ancestors left us a legacy woven with simplicity, beauty, and deep reverence for the land around us. For most of human history, birth was a sacred rite, held by community, honored with ceremony, and supported by the wisdom of plants. My mission is to help others reconnect with their bodies and remember the vast lineage of strength that lives within us.

In a world where the fight for birth justice is still very real, reclaiming this knowledge and strength is not only an act of healing...it’s the soil where sovereignty grows. This wisdom is not just a gift from the past. It is a light we carry forward into the future.”
